If it get’s worse, I’m going to kill someone.
I’ve had some pretty bad weeks in the past, but none as jam packed as this one.
Friday night, the Oven stops working. Putting the knackers on my plans to eat cheaply next week. Later on, an angry Traveller decides to punch my windscreen. Breaking it and making it impossible for me to work. I spend the rest of the night in the police station making a statement.
Saturday, I spend the morning trying to get the windscreen fixed on the taxi and try and find a new oven or at least a repair man. No luck on either. I’m off the road till Tuesday at the earliest and the only repair men are fairly expensive.
We have to go to a hamster show to off load three hamsters but on the way back we find out that the place we were going to eat at opens half an hour later than expected. This puts back plans to take Chris out to his birthday by half an hour. He goes with Vikki instead, making Vikki annoyed at me.
Tuesday - Hooray. Get the new Windscreen in and then spend three hours getting the old over-sized rearview mirror off the old windscreen and also trying to stick it to the new one, sticking many things to the table in the process including Niall’s character sheet.
Wednesday - Back to work, finally. Late to finish, try to call Niall just to find out that my Phone has been cut-off again. Typical.
Thursday - Wake up to find a letter from my Car insurance people telling me that they cancelled the policy for non-payment. Since this is the first I’ve heard of it I call them and it amounts to a problem from the last time. Last time, they made the mistake and apologised but this time it was “my mistake” so they cancelled the policy. I paid the 20 outstanding and they said thank you, but you’ll have to make an entriely new policy. I go through it all, making an EXACT copy of the old one and they tell me it’ll cost double the old one. I ask why and they simple say “Insurance rates change regularly.” I tell them where to go. I’ll look for new car insurance when I actually have the money to pay for it. Until then, looks like I’ll be driving the taxi a lot more.
Got my phone turned back on though, well it will be sometime in the next 24 hours. They made a mistake on the bill and added 6 to the last bill which I didn’t pay (since I didn’t know about it) and they’ve sorted it out now.
Final nail in the coffin, just tried to drive the Taxi and the headlights have both spontaneously stopped working. Making it impossible to drive at night. I changed the bulbs, changed the fuses, nothing. Looks like I’m making hay while the sun shines.
All in all, none of them the worst single event, but certainly my worst week.

I had both headlights go out on both Metros. Checked the bulbs, fuses etc. Nadda. Turned out it was the stalk attached to the steering wheel. Don’t know where your headlight controls are, but if it’s a stalk might be worth checking…

It turned out that when the windscreen was replaced, there was a small part of the rubber that was turned overitself and wasn’t water-tight. Next time it rained, the interior filled with water and dripped down the back of the dashboard and into the fusebox causing all sorts of electrical fun.
